Dr. Maki Wan was born in China, grew up in Japan, and studied at university in France and Hong Kong. She holds a Ph.D. in French Literature and Cultural Studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Maki Wan has been working for Mitsubishi Corporation, the largest Japanese conglomerate, for over 20 years. She worked at Mitsubishi’s headquarters in Tokyo from 2011 to 2015, where she was in charge of the Group Chairman’s external relations. Her mission was to enhance the company’s international presence through participating in the World Economic Forum and meetings between senior Mitsubishi executives with national leaders. She is currently working in Hong Kong as Mitsubishi’s Deputy General Manager, in charge of strategic planning and business development.
She is actively involved in charity work. She is the Past President of Rotary Club Kowloon Golden Mile, the largest Rotary Club in Hong Kong, and she has acted as the leader of several fundraising events. She is also the Vice President of BIOHK, the first biotechnology convention and exhibition in Hong Kong.
